Our History

Seattle Reflexology & Massage Center (SRMC) was established in 1992, at a time when reflexology was almost unheard of in the Northwest. Since that time we have pioneered the effort to educate practitioners and the public about reflexology and its benefits, and have witnessed a far-reaching impact on the field.

As the demand for professional reflexologists grew, SRMC developed a thorough and dynamic educational program. We became a licensed school through Workforce Training Board of Washington State and our reflexology certification program was approved by Washington State Department of Health. We taught reflexology techniques to thousands of students through the years, enabling them to help themselves and many others. Our dedication helped us become a leader in reflexology education in the United States.

SRMC had a reflexology program of exceptional quality—one of the most extensive in the Western United States. We prepared students aspiring to meet the highest national standard and become Nationally Certified by the American Reflexology Certification Board® (ARCB®), and provided Nationally Certified practitioners with classes qualifying for ARCB® Continuing Education requirements. SRMC is approved as a provider of continuing education by the American Reflexology Certification Board® (Provider # P00119).

In 2022 we shifted our focus away from offering reflexology certification coursework and to offering individual reflexology classes in the Northwest and beyond and inviting continuing education instructors from around the world.

Lisa Hensell is Director of Education and owner of Seattle Reflexology & Massage Center. She is committed to offering reflexology classes that provide an intelligent foundation of education to students wishing to learn about the modality. She participates in local, national and international reflexology communities in order to keep herself up to date with the most current information in the field and invites premier instructors from around the world to teach advanced, specialized and cutting-edge reflexology classes in Seattle. She was given a national education award in 2018 by Reflexology Association of America.

For 17 years, the vibrant hub of SRMC was a charming 1912 historical building in the lower Queen Anne neighborhood of Seattle, in the shadow of the Space Needle. In May, 2019 we moved to the Space Building, located in the heart of Fremont, known by locals as the “Center of the Universe”. In 2021 we moved to beautiful South Whidbey Island.

We offer reflexology appointments by highly trained reflexologists who are also licensed massage therapists. Our office days are Monday—Friday and some Saturdays.
